Apologies for not having a May post. I will use this as my May and June post since I have been working on the same thing for both months. I am putting on a mini - camp of a different breed this summer. I'm putting on a Mental Training Mini-Camp for high school athletes. I'd like to use this post to provide reasons why athletes should attend. Ready? Let's go..
1. Mental training is an influential yet highly overlooked aspect of athletics. It is a skill set that athletes are expected to have ::cough:: mental toughness ::cough:: but aren't taught in an organized manner ( like practice). There is more and more emphasis on the mental side of the game, but actually working on the mental side of the game is still not common practice. Attending a Mental Training Mini - Camp this summer will develop the skills coaches look for and quality athletes are expected to have. Athletes will have a chance to be involved in an aspect of athletics that is cutting edge.
2. Mental Training over the summer can give you the skills needed to improve athletic performance during the season. Instead of learning how to deal with adversity WHILE going through it, you will develop skills for this BEFORE it happens so you can respond accordingly.
3. The Mental Training skills athletes develop at the mini - camp are the same skills that next level athletes (college, professional) use. If you have the opportunity to play at the next level, you will have one up on your incoming teammates because you will already have experience with Mental Training.
4. Why not?
So with these reasons listed and more, consider attending a Mental Training Mini-Camp this summer. There are four dates available to attend. Please check out the Mental Training Mini-Camps page here for more information and to register. #FlexThatMentalMuscle
